Victorian 14k Diamond + Enamel Tiger Pendant

A magnificent enameled pendant from the Victorian (ca1880) era! Crafted in rosy 14k gold, the piece represents the 3-dimensional repousse face of a fierce, snarling tiger. Luscious hand-painted enamel accents cover the surface, creating an exceptionally detailed appearance. Rich black stripes and whiskers give the illusion of depth, and coppery red accents are painted across the tongue and nostrils. Clenched within the tiger’s open mouth is a sparkling .15ct round brilliant cut diamond, which is prong set between pointed gold fangs. Two cabochon garnets represent each of the tiger’s twinkling eyes. A simple hidden gold bail on the back of the pendant completes the design. This outstanding pendant is a work of art, and would make quite an impressive addition to any antique jewelry collection!

Measurements: The pendant measures 3/4″ in length, 7/8″ wide, 3/8″ thick.

Condition: The pendant is in excellent antique condition. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold setting or 3-dimensional repousse detail. The enamel shows signs of minor surface wear due to age, which is normal for an antique piece. However, the minimal wear does not detract from the striking beauty of the design. The diamond is intact and securely set. The bail is securely attached and in good condition.
