Early Victorian Cut Steel Regal Crown Motif Cuff Bracelet

Cut steel jewelry originated in England in the 17th century and subsequently spread throughout Europe, eventually becoming a popular style of jewelry worn by members of high society during the Victorian era. Made of polished faceted steel studs, the pieces were cut by hand and then assembled and riveted onto a metal back. The faceted steel elements give this type of jewelry a subtle, metallic glitter that resembles cut gemstones. Motifs varied from the simple to the sublime, with multiple layers and densely packed studs. A gorgeous and unusual cut steel bracelet from the early Victorian era (1850s) era! Crafted with faceted cut steel, this unique handmade bracelet displays a regal crown-like design. The entire outer surface is comprised of dozens of delicate cut steel studs, which vary in size and shape, catching the light with every turn and sparkling as if studded with gems! The detailed craftsmanship can be viewed from the interior of the bracelet, each rivet securing a faceted steel stud to the metal cuff. The bracelet contours elegantly along the wearer’s wrist and hands to make a bold and feminine statement and secures with a keyhole-shaped tension clasp at the back. Measurements: The internal circumference of the bracelet measures approximately 7 1/2″ inches. The bracelet is about 1/8″ as its thickest. The bracelet graduates from 3/8″ wide at the closure to to 1 1/2″ at its widest point.

Condition: The overall condition of the bracelet is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the cut steel studs or metal base. There are surface scratches and a natural patina on the latch closure but this does not impact the beauty of the piece. Although the clasp is fully secure, the design allows for movement when fastened.
